As mother’s day is approaching, we would like to take the opportunity to wish all mother’s a Happy Mother’s Day. The role as a mother is difficult especially when you are managing a multi-million business, we have recently spoken to our Chief Executive Officer – Emily Tse about the ideal work-life balance whilst being a mother.
How do you find the ideal work-life balance whilst managing SeeWoo Foods?
As a working mother I have to find the right work-life balance whilst I am managing SeeWoo Foods. This is challenging at the best of times, but during Covid lockdowns it has been extra tough as I have to home school too. It is difficult for children to understand how work is a very important part of my life; I have many meetings and have to make decisions that affect the Company, employees and all aspects of running a business whilst still setting up their lessons on computers and answering questions. Not to mention preparing lunch, dinner and getting them in the bath every night and make sure they have a routine. To say I’m exhausted by the end of each day is an understatement, but I manage to multi task and accomplish my tasks. I have learnt to cope with stress by meditating, exercising, and taking a nap when I need to.
What makes you happy?
I am happiest when I can spend quality time with my children, whether it is out walking in the countryside being close to nature, or sharing stories at meal times. I cherish the ups and downs of parenting and have learnt to be kind to myself and take each day as it comes.
I take delight watching my children grow up, seeing their achievements and rewarded each day by their love. Becoming a mother has changed me and my priorities but most of all has given me a newfound respect for my own mother. All the values she instilled in me as a child growing up about my own heritage as a BBC growing up in the UK, having integrity and trying my best at all times is something I am keen in instilling into my own two boys.
What’s your message to all current and soon-to-be mothers?
Be kind to yourself and enjoy your children - make the most of any quality time whilst they are young - they grow up all too soon.
